Our Story

Our journey began in 2021 when out gathering firewood. We couldn't help but notice the beauty of the beetlekill pine we were cutting, and got to thinking about all the cool stuff we could make out of it instead of throwing it in the wood stove. From there the curiosity of the woodworking world grew, and more ideas began to take shape.

Since we love working with wood but also love trees and forests, the thought to harvest our own lumber came naturally. By selectively harvesting dead and down trees we hope to decrease our dependency on the lumber industry and reduce our shop's environmental footprint. As an added benefit we get to play with unique wood species that can't be bought commercially, which is loads of fun!

What does it look like inside?? One of our favorite questions to answer!

Laura Cuccio

Soon after the idea came to start a woodworking business, Laura left the seasonal guide life in pursuit of a new skill set. In January of 2021 she started a new job at a high-end custom cabinet shop, where she still currently works part-time. Through this work she has been honing her skills in building, finishing, and cabinet installation.

Sundog Woodworks is an outlet for her creativity, curiosity, and general passion for making cool stuff out of cool woods :)
